Code of Conduct

AMBIC members are required to sign a Code of Conduct that commits them to conduct their businesses in a professional and responsible way.  The Code is reproduced below and applies in addition to and irrespective of any professional code of conduct that members might reasonably be expected to comply with.

  • A member, in the conduct of his/her business, shall respect the interests of clients and the general public.  It is the member's personal responsibility to honour assurances and deal fairly and honestly with clients and the public at all times.

  • A member shall not knowingly disseminate false or misleading information and shall use due diligence to avoid doing so inadvertently.  The member has a positive duty to maintain integrity and accuracy.  He/she shall not misrepresent themselves or their business as having qualifications, experience, skills or facilities that they do not possess.

  • A member shall not disclose, except upon the order of a Court of competent jurisdiction, or make use of information given or obtained in confidence from employer or client, past or present, for personal gain or otherwise without prior consent.

  • A member shall not engage in any practice, activity or conduct, which would bring into disrepute the Ambic network or injure the professional reputation and/or business of another member.

  • A member having a financial interest in an organisation shall not recommend its use to clients or other Ambic members without declaring that interest.

  • A member shall not, with intent to further his/her interests, offer or give any reward other than recognised commission to any individual or organisation if such action is against the public interest.

  • Membership of the Ambic network may be withdrawn if, on investigation of a complaint, the elected Committee find that in their opinion a member is guilty of unprofessional conduct.  This is defined as:
    a)  Being guilty of conduct likely to bring discredit on the Ambic organisation and/or its members.
    b)  Being sentenced to a term of imprisonment by a Court of competent jurisdiction.
    c)  Providing services which fall short of reasonable professional standards.
    d)  Being guilty of any breach of this Code of Conduct or any other regulations laid down from time by the Committee.
    e)  Failing without good reason to assist the Ambic Committee in the investigation of a complaint.

  • A member who knowingly causes, or permits another person or organisation to act inconsistently with the code or is party to such action shall personally be deemed in breach of it.
